These are a few samples scenes from prior film and tv productions I have scored. I have worked in genres ranging from drama to horror and sic-fi, including everything in between. These samples are intended to showcase how I can interpret a film maker's vision through music and how the right music can deliver the proper mood and emotional message for a scene. If you are interested in viewing additional samples covering other styles please contact me. Copyright of the film remains with the film makers at all times.
In the remote desert commune of Slab City, a reunited father and son struggle to heal old wounds and unmask the secrets of the universe(s).
About the Score: the director wanted music capable of expressing the solace of the desert and the schism between father and son, it was also important to be able to go from small intimate sonorities to a more intense score that heightened the drama and revelations in the scene. The score features acoustic guitar, Ronroco and string orchestra. Warning: scene uses strong language.
In a contaminated future, one man makes life palatable through his nostalgia, but not everyone in this new world has quite such an optimistic demeanor.
About the Score: the director wanted music in the style of a traditional western duel for this scene. I used orchestral textures, guitars and a Dobro resonator to achieve this goal.
Opening of a TV documentary feature on the life and death of Pablo Escobar, directed by Santiago Diaz.
About the Score: the music for the film and the opening features the main theme played by the Ronroco and Spanish guitar, the score mixes traditional orchestra elements with modern sounding sonorities and South American influences
This is a scene from the film Directed by Simon Brand and Produced for TNT by Oscar award winning director Juan José Campanella. "The Umbrella (La Sombrilla)," a sci-fi film is the opening episode for the television series "Fronteras."
About the Score: the music uses Spanish guitar and the orchestra to set the mood and place where most of the action occurs until the main twist, seen in this scene, where we realize the time and place of events are not what we imagined them to be. At the moment of revelation, the music adds electronic and modern sonorities to emphasize the shift.
The multiple award winner horror short film Luna. A young girl witnesses the murder of her family by a mysterious killer. Now she must try to survive before the killer finds her.
About the Score: the music uses mostly electronic elements with very a few orchestral sonorities. The director wanted a score that kept the viewer at the edge and that never ventured into familiar territory or foreshadow the action. I approached the writing based on the principles of tension and release to always keep the audience guessing, as Antonio Perez does with this wonderful film.
